Funzalo Records Introduces It's Newest Addition to the Funzalo Family:
The Coal Men
Updated: June 15th, 2009
After ten years of touring, broken bones, dealing with death, destruction and
the general mayhem of living in a van, recording when possible, and writing amazing songs, Nashville-based band, The Coal Men have signed with indie, Funzalo Records.
They have also signed with Mike Lembo’s company Mike’s Management.
Known for their exemplary songwriting, outstanding musicianship, and for being all around great guys, drummer Day Ray, bassist Hitch, and guitarist/vocalist Dave Coleman will be releasing their new album this summer, entitled Kids With Songs, on Funzalo Records. Distribution will be through Edge Distribution for hard copies and IODA Distribution for digital.
The Coal Men plan on doing an extensive amount of touring for Kids With Songs. They are booked by New Frontier Booking Agency (The Avett Brothers, Colin Hay, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers) and are known for their solid, entertaining shows.
"The Coal Men are one of my favorite Nashville bands. Leader Dave Coleman writes brilliantly and sings with soulful conviction. The striking imagery is in the new album's title tune: lyrics equaled by its fuzz-tone undertow bass line, slashing electric guitars, pounding percussion and sizzling organ/piano work. These folks deserve stardom, people." - Robert K. Oermann, MUSIC ROW MAGAZINE
"The Coal Men have risen from the ranks of Nashville up-and-comers to a spot as one of Music City's strongest, nerviest rock acts." — Peter Cooper, THE TENNESSEAN
The Coal Men's new album, "Kids With Songs," along with past Coal Men releases, will be available in the Funzalo Store very soon!
